2SLGBTQ+ ELDERS PROJECT

Community Consultation

Dignity Seniors Society wishes to thank everyone who participated in the community consultation on our Elders Project. 

From February to May 2021, DSS hosted a series of focus groups, invited individuals to participate in one on one interviews, and conducted an online survey. Over seventy (70) individuals shared their thoughts and ideas on four pivotal questions: 

  • What comes to mind when you hear the term ‘elder’?

  • What do you think are important attributes and characteristics of elders in 2SLGBTQ+ communities?

  • What role can/do elders play within 2SLGBTQ+ communities?

  • How do our communities go about identifying our 2SLGBTQ+ elders?

DSS is pleased to share with you a Summary Report from the consultation. A number of recommendations emerged from the community discussion and will inform next steps in development of the Elders Project.
