Ellen Woodsworth (she/her)
Ellen Woodsworth is a long-time queer activist working with an intersectional lens on gender and social justice, economic equality and world peace.
She came out in 1969, chained herself in the House of Commons for women's right to choose, co-founded the Other Woman Newspaper, CORA the Women's Liberation Bookmobile and was part of the International Wages for Housework movement.
She was Chair of the BC Action Canada Network fighting "Free Trade," an organizer in the DTES for ten years then was elected the first lesbian City Councillor in Canada where she set up the first Canadian LGTBQI Advisory Committee with Tim Stevenson.
She organized the first queer panel at World Urban Forum in Quito, Ecuador and has spoken around the world on queer issues, putting an intersectional lens on urban policy and peace. Ellen is also the founder and matriarch of Women Transforming Cities!
