QUEST+ Café for 2SLGBTQIA+ Seniors
Supporting older adults who identify with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community

It will feature Indira (Indi) Riadi, who will be presenting the methods and findings of her Ph.D. research project, focusing on exploring the social determinants of mental health of 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors who live in Vancouver’s West End. …

2S/LGBTQIA+ Community Consultation: Arthritis Action Plan
The Arthritis Action Plan will be a nationwide strategy, co-created by 21 Arthritis Ecosystem Champion organizations to revolutionize health outcomes and quality of life for people living with arthritis. The Arthritis Action Plan aims to be informed directly by the insights, priorities and concerns of 1 million people in Canada. Over the next ten years, the Plan will take on the big issues of arthritis, including prevention, cures, equitable access to care, and elevating the urgency of the disease. Everyone plays a role in solving arthritis — the healthcare sector, people and families with lived experience, government at all levels, other non-profits, industry, researchers, and academics — and we must all work together.
In order to ensure that 2S/LGBTQIA+ individuals living with arthritis are consulted and engaged in this planning process, Arthritis Society Canada is excited to collaborate with the Community-Based Research Centre (CBRC). CBRC is a national non-profit organization that promotes the health of people of diverse sexualities and genders through research and intervention development. Arthritis Society Canada is a national health charity, fueled by donors and volunteers, with a mission to fight the fire of arthritis through research, advocacy, innovation, information and support - and is the backbone organization coordinating the production of the Arthritis Action Plan.
Through this partnership, CBRC will be hosting 2 virtual consultation sessions, for 2S/LGBTQIA+ people living with arthritis in Canada, who are 18 years of age and older. These virtual consultations will be in English, held on zoom, and facilitated by 2S/LGBTQIA+ community members. The virtual sessions will be held on March 18 and March 25. Participants will be provided with a $100 honorarium, which will be sent by CBRC through electronic money transfer using the platform Plooto.

The ArQuives: Canada’s LGBTQ2+ Archives - with support from Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE; a DSS funder! 🙏) - launched Community Ties: Our Future Together, a community consultation initiative to strengthen The ArQuives, and expand their impact across Canada.
We are starting a national conversation about how The ArQuives can best serve communities across Canada over the next 50 years.
In each city, we’re gathering 15 LGBTQ2+ community members to share challenges, hopes and dreams related to how we Keep Our Stories Alive. There will be a short presentation and friendly facilitation by The ArQuives, and there will be an opportunity to participate in collaborating to make a zine that captures what makes your community great!
In Vancouver, we especially want to reach out to and meet:
LGBTQ2+ community members who already are or might be interested in our programming;
researchers, academics, and media who already or might use The ArQuives’ collections in their work; and
partner organizations, including libraries, archives, museums, arts and heritage organizations, cultural institutions, and other LGBTQ2+ organizations.
We have developed an RSVP form for participants with a brief questionnaire designed to help us prepare for each session (links below). Please share this link with others in your community, especially those from historically marginalized communities.
Honoraria are available for community members for whom attending is not part of their professional duties, and refreshments will be provided.
While we would like to invite anyone who may be able to attend, space and capacity is limited. For folks who are unable to participate on that day, we will have additional opportunities to engage, including virtual one-on-one interviews and an online national survey.

QMUNITY Legal Clinic Launch:
Building a Place of Hope in Times of Crisis
At a time when queer, trans, and Two-Spirit communities are facing mounting challenges, access to legal support is more critical than ever. QMUNITY’s new 2SLGBTQIA+ legal clinic has been quietly operating since late 2024, offering vital resources to those who need it most. Now, we’re coming together to officially celebrate its launch.
This networking and launch event will bring together community leaders, legal advocates, and allies who believe in justice, equity, and the power of collective action. Throughout the evening, you’ll hear from key speakers in the legal advocacy community and members of QMUNITY, all sharing insights into how we can work together to protect and uplift those most impacted by systemic barriers.
While attendance is free, we invite all guests to make a donation to QMUNITY’s Hair Removal Microgrant: a program providing direct support to BIPOC trans women, trans femmes, and Two-Spirit people seeking trans-affirming hair removal—a necessity that remains entirely uncovered by public healthcare. 100% of donations go directly into the hands of those who need them most.
