Death Cafe at H.I.M
Lukas W. is co-facilitating another Death Cafe at the HIM office, #300 - 1033 Davie Street (Vancouver), this Thursday Dec 4th from 6:30- 8:00 pm.
A place to gather and talk about everything mortality, death and dying. Community members gather to talk about everything from our own mortality and time on earth, to our experiences with death, ideas around death, what we want for ourselves or our community, and so much more! Prompts will be given but the only theme is death and dying.
This event is geared towards those who are open to talking and engaging around the topic. This is not a grief and support group, but we may touch on the subject of grief at times.
Offered by HIM Health Initiative for Men. Women are welcome at this event.
This is a free event for the 2S/LGBTQ+ community, but registration is required, as all our previous Death Cafes have had standing-room only attendance.

TDoR: Trans Day of Remembrance Vigil
November 20th is Trans Day of Remembrance, a time for honoring our Trans siblings taken too soon and holding grief in community. Each year we (St. Andrews-Wesley United Church) host a vigil to provide a safe space for our 2SLGBTQIA+ community to gather together and through ritual and ceremony honour their loved ones.
We would like to invite you to join us for this contemplative service for Trans Day of Remembrance. This evening will feature music from the Quayside Voices and a reflection from Rev. Lauren Kirkey, co- founder of the Saige Foodbank for the Two-Spirit, Trans and Gender diverse community. The vigil commemorates all transgender people lost to violence and lifts up those who are continuing to work for trans rights.
What: Trans Day of Remembrance Vigil
When: Sunday, November 23rd , 7:00pm

Nov. 20 annually is our Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) - which memorializes those who have been murdered as a result of transphobia. The day was founded to draw attention to the continued violence directed toward transgender people.
This TDoR please join us at two back-to-back Nov 20 events in Vancouver.
Trans Day of Remembrance [all ages] Gathering
Join us for an all ages gathering and drop-in for 2SLGBTQIA+ community members to hold space and be together away from the public eye.

Time: 5 - 7 pm
Location: The Birdhouse, 44 west 4th [ map ]

Vancouver Trans March and sagah are hosting a Vigil at MacLean Park at 7 pm [ map ]. We will be shortening our program to end around 6:45 to give folks time to head to the park or the vigil. We encourage our community to attend both events if possible to recognize Trans Day of Remembrance.

40th Anniversary: Cherry Tree AIDS Memorial
40th Anniversary of the Cherry Tree AIDS Memorial [ link | image ]
40 years ago this October, early activists planted three Sakura (Cherry Blossom) trees in a slightly out of the way spot near X̱wáýx̱way/Stanley Park. Honouring some of the first HIV/AIDS deaths in the country, the grove is the oldest known AIDS memorial. At the time it was planted, fears of vandalism meant the site stayed only known through word of mouth.
Ribbon Community and Cocksure Performance invite you to gather with us to mark this significant anniversary as a time to reflect on half a century of local HIV/AIDS activism and look ahead to the future it made possible.
Join us for food and community connection opportunities starting at 3:30 pm at the cherry trees at Devonian Harbour Park on Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh territories. Formal proceedings, including invited remarks and readings, will begin at 4pm and are planned to wrap up by 5 pm.
Location: Devonian Harbour Park, 1929 W Georgia St, Vancouver, B.C. | map
Date and time: Mon, Oct 20, 2025 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Organizer: Sarah Chown, (604) 696-4655, sarahc@ribboncommunity.org
